Good article. Thanks. The author went to a little more trouble discussing why each show belonged where it did than is usual, and that was appreciated. (I had no idea Sam Peckinpah developed THE RIFLEMAN.) I may also have to give HELL ON WHEELS another chance. I watched the pilot a few years ago and it didn't blow my dress up. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood that night. It's also nice to see him bend the definition of "series" to include LONESOME DOVE, which stands above anything else I've seen on TV for a Western.
